About

Biography
Designer Dantrese Canady has had a lifelong passion for fashion, art, and design — a love that began in her hometown of Arlington, Virginia. She learned the art of sewing under the guidance of her grandmother and family friend Vanessa Allen, shaping her early foundation in craftsmanship and creativity.
Since creating her first custom prom dresses in 2003, Dantrese has built a devoted clientele and lasting relationships with clients who trust her eye for detail and her dedication to individuality. Her work spans bridal, eveningwear, ready-to-wear, alterations, and costuming, each piece reflecting her belief that clothing should tell a story.
After studying Fashion Design at The Art Institute of Philadelphia, she began her professional journey as a seamstress for designer Greg Taylor of Walish Gooshe, later co-founding a clothing line and designing for clients including Jade Alston, Jessy Wilson, Gogo Morrow, Laurin Talese, and Vivian Green.
In 2012, Dantrese launched her own brand, Dahnistry, driven by her mission to create artistry that makes history. Now, she proudly introduces The Dahnistry Room, a creative destination where fashion, art, design, and entertaining intertwine. The Dahnistry Room offers custom bridal and eveningwear, alterations, ready-to-wear collections, and rentable event and content spaces, all under one roof.
Each piece and every experience reflect Dantrese’s heart for her craft — thoughtful, timeless, and uniquely designed to make dreams come alive.
